SUN ‘N FUN EDITION WRAP UP

“One of the groups, the T-6’s were in Gainesville, Florida and they were practicing their formation flying. The T-34’s were up at New Smyrna Beach, Florida, doing the same basic activities, training, practicing and like you said getting the cobwebs off, ready to fly in at Sun ’n Fun. And then the Red Star pilots had good solid numbers there. I believe they had at least 14 Yak 52’s and CJ-6A’s participating. It was good to see. Typically at Sun ’n Fun, we have about 60 to 75 volunteers. And up at Oshkosh that number grows to well over 500. The folks on the volunteer side of things were able to come out and many of them that I talked to said they were very comfortable in the working environment and many had both of their COVID shots if that was a concern for them. They certainly came out and helped run the show and did a great job with it. So I think we know by the time we get to July with people getting more vaccinations, more shots in the arm I feel very confident that we’ll be having a successful and healthy event. – Bill Fischer/Warbirds of America Executive Director.
